CustomVue and WaveFront
Wavefront Technology is the next generation of laser vision correction. Using a sophisticated pattern of light ray analysis, the Wavefront system tracks minute abnormalities of your eye in order to create a customized LASIK laser treatment plan. A straight beam of light, called a "wavefront" is passed through your eye. Any aberrations or abnormalities are quickly detected and used to create a "Wavefront map". The unique Wavefront map is used to calculate abnormalities of the cornea, and then the information is transferred to the computer. The Wavefront Analyzer is another feature used to measure the aberrations (abnormalities) of the eye through a system of light ray movement.
As the light rays are directed through the lens and to the retina, the Wavefront Analyzer is able to detect the amount of distortion. The VISX Star 4 IR laser uses this precise information to create your personalized LASIK treatment.
Wavefront technology allows your LASIK surgeon to measure and correct imperfections with 25 times more precision than standard measurements for glasses and contact lenses!
Now the LASIK procedure is enhanced with state-of-the-art CustomVue technology! The VISX CustomVue LASIK procedure gives LASIK surgeons the ability to measure and correct the unique imperfections of your vision like never before - providing patients with their Personal Best Vision.
With the CustomVue procedure, precision and accuracy levels are higher than ever before. During a CustomVue LASIK procedure, Wavefront technology is utilized to measure and map the eye, providing your surgeon with vision details never before accessed. Now we are able to identify imperfections in your eye in digital form in order to create your customized laser treatment.
FDA clinical trials for the CustomVue procedure showed that with this technology, patients have the ability to achieve better vision than is even possible with glasses or contact lenses!
